Who runs this
Good Standing is an independent Los Angeles tool for self-managing landlords who own rental units. We are not a law firm, not a property manager, and not part of any government agency. Not the Los Angeles Housing Department, not LA County, not Santa Monica, West Hollywood or Pasadena. Nobody pays us to say anything, and no agency has any relationship with us.
Where the numbers come from

Published documents
Every figure on this site is read from a city ordinance, a housing department bulletin or a county rate table, and displayed with a link to that document and the date we last checked it. If a number has no citation, we do not publish it.

Re-checked on a schedule
Every rate table is verified at least once a quarter, and always within a week of a known rate-change date. Not when someone complains.

Thin numbers marked
Where a figure has only one source, or the agency's site blocks ordinary access, we say so next to the number rather than in a footnote.
When we get one wrong

Fixed the same day
We fix a wrong figure the day we learn about it. We do not quietly edit and move on.

Logged in public
The correction goes in the change log with the old value and the new one.

Affected owners told
Every subscriber whose buildings were affected gets an email.
If a number here looks wrong, tell us: support@goodstanding.la. Send the figure and where you saw it and we will check it against the source that day.
What it is not
- Not legal advice, and not a law firm. We fill a notice or a deposit letter in from your own numbers and hand it to you to check, sign and send. We file nothing and we serve nothing. Where a form is required we link to the official one.
- Not a rent collector. We never touch your money.
- Not tenant screening, and not property management. It sits on top of whatever you already use, and cancelling does not delete your records.
Your data
We do not sell or share it, and we report nothing about your buildings to anyone.
